About Stroke Sight
About this app
Stroke Sight is a wellness support app for people living with hemianopia — partial vision loss commonly caused by stroke. It is not a medical device and does not replace professional rehabilitation. Use it alongside guidance from your neuro-optometrist or stroke rehab team.
Why these four exercises?
After a stroke causing hemianopia, the brain loses automatic scanning into the affected field. These exercises are based on compensatory saccadic training — teaching deliberate eye movements to compensate for the missing field.
The exercises
- Anchor & Scan — 70% of targets appear on the affected side, forcing deliberate saccades (eye jumps) into the blind field.
- Reading Line Scan — rebuilds the anchor-scanning reading habit disrupted by stroke. A red dot marks the start of each line.
- Peripheral Flicker — low-demand awareness training. Stay fixed on the cross and react to yellow flickers. Good for fatigue days.
- Visual Search Grid — simulates real tasks (scanning a menu, finding items on a shelf) requiring full-field systematic searching.
How to use this app
- Aim for 5–15 minutes per day, little and often is better than long infrequent sessions.
- Start with Peripheral Flicker if fatigue is high.
- Show your Progress tab to your therapist at appointments.
- This app works fully offline — no internet needed after first save.
Important
This app is a supplement to professional rehabilitation, not a replacement. Recovery from stroke-related visual field loss varies greatly between individuals. Always follow your clinical team's guidance.
