Stroke Sight helps adults adapt to visual field loss after stroke. It works offline, collects no data, and is available in 19 languages, including Welsh. Free demo: ansteyapps.com/stroke-sight.

A stroke can leave someone unable to see one side of the world, even though their eyes are healthy. Reading becomes slow and tiring, and things on the affected side get missed. The most established way to adapt is scanning practice: learning to move the eyes into the missing side until it becomes second nature.

Stroke Sight turns that practice into nine simple exercises, from steady fixation through to scanning, tracking and reading real text. Everything is self-paced and designed for short, regular sessions at home between appointments. The app is clear about what it offers: it won't restore lost vision. Its exercises practise the compensatory scanning approach described in clinical guidance and research; the app itself has not been clinically evaluated.

Stroke Sight was built by the partner of a young stroke survivor, after they found there was almost nothing to practise with at home. It works fully offline, collects no data, and is available in 19 languages, including Welsh. The full app costs £29.99 once, with no subscription. A free demo is available.

ReWrite

Handwriting practice made for adults, not children.

Short description · for directories & listings

ReWrite gives adults guided handwriting practice after stroke or brain injury. It guides letters, words and sentences with clear feedback on every stroke, at whatever pace suits the day. Built by the partner of a young stroke survivor — for adults, because almost everything else was made for children. Offline, no data collected, 19 languages including Welsh, Irish and Canadian French. Free demo: ansteyapps.com/rewrite.

Longer description · for newsletters & resource pages

Losing handwriting as an adult affects everything from signing a form to writing a birthday card, yet it rarely gets much time in rehabilitation — and most practice tools were designed for children. ReWrite was built for adults.

The app guides each letter, number, word and sentence as it's written, giving clear, patient feedback on every stroke, then opens into free practice and exercises for hand control. Sessions are short by design, so practice fits into real days, and everything moves at the writer's own pace. Progress is tracked in the background, with a printable report to bring along to appointments.

ReWrite was built by the partner of a young stroke survivor, who watched how much of rehabilitation came down to what could be practised at home. It works fully offline, collects no data, and is available in 19 languages, including Welsh, Irish and Canadian French. The full app costs £29.99 once, with no subscription. A free demo is available.

Please include this wherever the apps are described: Stroke Sight and ReWrite are practice tools, not medical devices. They don't diagnose or treat; they give people something worthwhile to do between appointments, alongside professional rehabilitation, never in place of it. Anyone worried about their vision, their hand, or their recovery should speak to their own clinical team.

Need anything else? Review codes for your clinical team, a different description length, translated copy in any of the 19 languages, screenshots in other sizes, or a conversation about piloting or co-design — email liam@ansteyapps.com and you'll hear back quickly.
